Spencer is Kim’s paternal family name. Spencer’s have lived in Murihiku/Southland since the early 1800’s. James Spencer married Tini Rahou Rawaho at Waikouaiti on Wednesday the 27th January 1841. Tini was one of the many wahine and children from Otaakou, sent south to Ruapuke to escape the marauding parties of Te Rauparaha. This information has been taken from the book “Time & Tide Revisited” written by my very clever aunty Georgina Ellis published in 2020.
